The Wisdom of Lord Ieyasu, Who Survived the Sengoku Era

Winning Through Letters

Lord Ieyasu was diligent in letter writing. Before and after important battles, he would send numerous letters, each one thoughtfully written with sincerity and care. Before the Battle of Sekigahara, he sent approximately 170 letters to various lords and allies. Even in peacetime, Lord Ieyasu frequently picked up his brush, dedicating himself to strengthening relationships with the people around him. This shows a side of Lord Ieyasu that excelled in understanding human psychology and managing information.
