The Fierce Struggle of the Mikawa Warriors to Protect Their Lord
The revolt of the commoners and the rustlers targeted Lord Ieyasu. Only a small group of retainers accompanied him, yet these retainers included Tokugawa’s elite, such as the Four Heavenly Kings, who would later gain fame. Underestimating the small force, the rebels were driven back by the spears of Ieyasu’s fearsome warriors which included Honda Tadakatsu and Watanabe Hanzo. The generous support of Chaya Shiroujiro also provided significant assistance.
