Determined to Risk the Iga Escape Upon Hearing of the Honnoji Incident

After enjoying their time in Sakai, Lord Ieyasu and his entourage once again headed toward Kyoto.

However, what awaited them there was news of the Honnoji Incident, brought by Chaya Shiroujiro.

Following Nobuyasu’s death, Lord Ieyasu considered committing seppuku(ritual suicide) in Chion-in Temple, however his retainers convinced him otherwise and Ieyasu decided instead to return to Okazaki to avenge Nobunaga’s death.

Thus began a perilous escape with a small band of loyal retainers.
